Gummy triggers hospital visit for Germantown High student

GLUCKSTADT, Mississippi — A Germantown High School student was taken to a hospital Tuesday after consuming a non-controlled gummy and experiencing a negative reaction, the Gluckstadt Police Department said.

The incident occurred around noon, and emergency services were called as a precaution, police said. Responders from Pafford EMS and the Gluckstadt Fire Department evaluated the student at the school, and at the request of the student’s mother the student was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The police department said the situation was handled quickly and safely. Authorities urged parents and students to be cautious about consuming substances that are not prescribed or clearly identified, saying even non-controlled items can cause unexpected effects and health risks.

Germantown High School officials were not identified in the police statement. School and public safety officials often coordinate with emergency medical services when students have medical reactions on campus. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
