Hattiesburg Police Department opens academy applications
Hattiesburg Police Department is accepting applications for its next recruit academy, the department said in a Facebook post. Applications are open now through Aug. 7, 2026, and interested candidates are directed to apply at www.hburgacademy.com.
The department said it seeks men and women ready to step forward and begin careers in law enforcement. New officers who complete the academy and graduate into the department will start at $55,000, the post said. Based on prior law enforcement experience, higher education and bilingual fluency, recruits may qualify for a starting salary of up to $60,000 after graduation.
