Hattiesburg Police Academy opens applications

The Hattiesburg Police Department said in a Facebook video posted from the Johnny DuPree Public Safety Complex that applications are open for the next Hattiesburg Police Academy.

The announcement invites residents interested in law enforcement careers to apply for training that prepares recruits for service with the city police force. Police academies typically provide classroom instruction, legal and procedural education, defensive tactics, firearms training and physical conditioning to meet state and departmental standards.

The recruitment push is significant for local public safety and community policing efforts. Hiring and training new officers helps maintain staffing levels, support patrol operations and provide services to residents, officials often say when announcing academy classes.

The department did not provide application deadlines or detailed eligibility requirements in the video. Officials urged interested applicants to consult the Hattiesburg Police Department’s official channels for application instructions and additional information.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
