Mississippi DPS opens applications for Capitol Police Cadet Class 71
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is inviting applicants to Cadet Class 71, the department said in a Facebook post that included the message, “We love our Capitol Police units too!” Applications are open through Aug. 29 and are available at dps.ms.gov.
Capitol Police units typically provide security for state capitol buildings, protect lawmakers, staff and visitors, and enforce laws on state property. Agencies across the country use dedicated Capitol Police forces to maintain safety and order at government complexes.
Recruiting for a cadet class is a routine part of maintaining staffing levels and ensuring officers receive required training before entering full-duty assignments. Cadet programs generally combine classroom instruction, physical training and supervised field experience to prepare new officers for public-safety responsibilities.
The post on the department’s social media account used hashtags including #Mississippi, #DriveSafe and #PublicSafety to promote the opportunity. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
