Hattiesburg Police open applications for academy recruits
The Hattiesburg Police Department is accepting applications for its next academy recruit class, the department said in a Facebook post.
New officers who complete the academy will start with a salary of $55,000, with the potential to earn up to $60,000 depending on prior experience, education and bilingual fluency, the department said. Officials also highlighted competitive benefits, opportunities for specialized training and professional growth.
The post said recruits may attend the University of Southern Mississippi or William Carey University tuition-free as part of the department’s education incentives. Hattiesburg is a city in southern Mississippi and the police department said the program aims to attract candidates committed to serving the local community.
