Pike County Sheriff’s Office accepts dog food donation from McComb Animal Hospital

Pike County Sheriff’s Office Chief Damian Gatlin and members of the office’s leadership accepted a donation of dog food from McComb Animal Hospital to support rescue dogs in the community, the sheriff’s office said.

The donation will help ensure animals in the office’s care are fed as deputies and staff assist with rescue efforts in Pike County, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department said in a statement provided to news outlets.

The release noted that partnerships between public safety agencies and local veterinary clinics can expand capacity for animal welfare work. When law enforcement agencies respond to neglect cases, natural disasters or stray animal populations, their involvement can add structure and reach to rescue efforts.

The sheriff’s office said donations such as dog food also can help open the door to medical care, vaccinations and eventual adoption for animals the agency handles. The release was provided by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
