Gulfport police wrap up summer Fishing Camp
The Gulfport Police Department said in a Facebook post that it wrapped up its summer Fishing Camp this season, with Lt. Steven Fore and his team teaching children fishing and outdoor skills.
The department wrote that campers learned from “first casts to big catches,” made memories and practiced new skills while officers and volunteers supervised activities. The post included lighthearted language celebrating a “fintastic summer” and thanked participants and helpers for their support.
The program reflects the department’s community policing efforts to engage young residents through recreational and educational activities. Police-run fishing camps typically aim to build relationships between officers and families, introduce outdoor safety and conservation principles, and provide supervised, constructive summer activities for children.
The department encouraged campers to “keep your lines tight, your hooks sharp” in its post and said it looks forward to next summer. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
