Gulfport Police welcome three new public safety staff

The Gulfport Police Department announced it has added three new public safety employees, including two dispatchers and one officer, the department said in a Facebook post.

Dispatcher Pernell Perkins, Dispatcher Logan Necaise and Officer Samuel Reed began their careers with the department, the post said, marking the start of what the department called an “exciting new chapter.”

The department said by choosing careers in public safety the new hires have committed to serving others, protecting the community and making a positive impact. Dispatchers typically handle emergency calls and coordinate responses, while sworn officers carry out patrol, investigations and community policing duties.

The post said the new members join a team dedicated to professionalism, integrity and building strong relationships with the citizens the department serves. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
