Gulfport Police welcome new officers, mechanic

The Gulfport Police Department announced on its Facebook page that it has added five new members to its staff: Mechanic Jacob Mount and Officers Brennan Acosta, Steven Woodworth, Andrew Thompson and Tenli Allen.

The post said the new hires “officially begin a career built on service, commitment, and making a difference in the lives of others” and thanked them for choosing public safety, a role that carries the responsibility of protecting the community while serving with honor and integrity.

The department said each recruit brings unique talents and a shared passion for serving Gulfport residents and that it looks forward to watching them grow professionally and personally as they begin their careers.

Police departments typically perform law enforcement, emergency response and community-policing duties, and new officers generally complete department training programs before assuming full responsibilities.
