Four charged with murder in Yazoo City shooting
Four people were charged with murder Aug. 13 in a Yazoo City shooting that killed McKinley Sawyer Jr., the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said.
The MBI said agents and investigators from the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office immediately began following up on leads and gathering information related to the July 29 shooting. The agency added that its Crime Scene Unit thoroughly processed the scene and collected physical evidence from the area.
The bureau identified the four charged as Jaylen Smith, Roderick Patterson Jr., Jamonti Stuckey and Cayden Lewis. The charges were filed Aug. 13, the MBI said.
The MBI said the investigation remains ongoing and that investigators are committed to following every lead and examining every piece of evidence to ensure justice is served. The agency extended condolences to the family and loved ones of McKinley Sawyer Jr. during this difficult time.
