25-year-old arrested, charged with murder after Pinehaven Drive shooting

Authorities arrested and charged 25-year-old Johnny Dixon with murder after a fatal shooting late Thursday on Pinehaven Drive near Kickapoo Road, a Facebook post announcing the arrest said.

The victim, identified only as a 37-year-old black man, was fatally shot during an alleged altercation between him and the suspect inside a vehicle, the post said. Investigators are conducting an active investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.

The post did not identify the city or the law enforcement agency that made the arrest. It said the victim’s identity will be released pending notification of next of kin. Charging a suspect with murder generally means prosecutors believe there is probable cause that the suspect unlawfully caused another person’s death; the case will proceed through the criminal justice system with an arraignment and pretrial proceedings.

Homicide investigations often involve collecting physical evidence, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance and phone records. Officials did not release further details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
