District attorney honors Prentiss County senior citizens at appreciation day

Prentiss County District Attorney Jason D. Herring on Thursday attended the Prentiss County TRIAD and Sheriff’s Department Senior Citizens Appreciation Day and thanked organizers, volunteers and community partners for the event.

Herring said he attended with Assistant District Attorneys Kyle Robbins and Joel Baldwin, who share felony prosecuting responsibilities in Prentiss County on behalf of his office and the State of Mississippi.

Herring offered brief remarks warning about a growing number of scams that target older adults through phone calls, text messages, email and social media. He told attendees, “if something doesn’t seem right, slow down, ask questions, and talk to someone you trust before sending money or sharing personal information.”

Herring gave a special thank you to Sheriff Randy Tolar and the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department for hosting the annual event. He said it was an honor to spend part of the day with the county’s senior citizens and to show appreciation for what they have done for their families and communities.
