Rankin County MSgt. Valino graduates crisis intervention training
Sheriff Bailey and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post they congratulate MSgt. Napoleon Valino on graduating from Crisis Intervention Team training hosted by Hinds Behavioral Health Systems.
The post said Crisis Intervention Team training provides deputies with valuable knowledge and information to resolve incidents involving individuals who are in the midst of a mental health crisis.
Crisis Intervention Team programs were developed to give law enforcement officers tools to de-escalate situations and connect people to mental health services when appropriate. Agencies that adopt CIT approaches aim to reduce the likelihood of force, improve outcomes for people experiencing crises and promote safer responses for officers and community members.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, responsible for responding to public safety incidents across the county. Training such as CIT reflects a broader trend among U.S. police agencies to emphasize mental health awareness and specialized response techniques.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
