Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office names employees of month
The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that it has named Detention Officer Willie Powell as April Employee of the Month and K-9 Deputy Floyd Brown as May Employee of the Month, recognizing their service and dedication to the agency and community.
The sheriff’s office said Powell consistently demonstrates professionalism, teamwork and an unwavering commitment to excellence. It said he goes above and beyond to ensure his shift operates smoothly and efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude and sound judgment.
The office credited K-9 Deputy Floyd Brown with significant enforcement activity in May, saying he responded to 501 calls for service, including 410 self-initiated activities. The post said Brown’s efforts resulted in 20 arrests, including five felony arrests, 11 narcotics-related arrests, three warrant arrests and five illegal firearm possession arrests. It added he conducted 105 extra patrols and security checks and issued 15 citations.
The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Coahoma County, Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations, detention and community safety programs. Detention officers typically manage jail operations while K-9 deputies assist in patrol and specialized searches.
