Chief Kern presents safety briefing at Southaven chamber luncheon

Chief Kern of the Southaven Police Department presented a safety briefing at the Southaven Chamber of Commerce quarterly luncheon held at the DeSoto County Agri-Education Center, the department said in a Facebook post.

The department said it regards the safety of residents as its highest priority and that its mission is to keep Southaven a safe place to live, work and visit.

The quarterly luncheon is one of the chamber’s regular events to bring together business leaders, civic officials and community members. Briefings by public-safety officials at such gatherings offer an opportunity to discuss local crime trends, prevention strategies and resources available to businesses and residents.

Southaven is a city in DeSoto County, Mississippi, and the police department’s outreach to the business community reflects a broader effort by many local agencies to strengthen partnerships that can enhance public safety and emergency preparedness.
