Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue seeks transport for injured turtle
CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI — Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue is seeking volunteers to transport an injured turtle from Forest to the Jackson area after the animal was found in the jaws of a dog, the organization said.
The rescue said the person who found the turtle does not have transportation and cannot meet volunteers at another location. The group added that someone has offered to bring the turtle to Jackson if a volunteer can first transport it from Forest to Morton.
Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue said it can reimburse gas at 14 cents per mile for anyone making a special trip to move the animal. The organization coordinates care and rehabilitation for injured turtles in the region and works with volunteers to arrange transport and veterinary attention, the rescue said.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
