Agency reports issues with incoming 9-1-1 calls
A local law enforcement agency posted on its Facebook page that it is experiencing issues with incoming 9-1-1 calls, including reports of calls not connecting and calls dropping.
The post said the problem has been reported to the agency’s service provider, which is working to resolve the issue. The agency advised people who cannot reach 9-1-1 or whose calls drop to use alternate phone numbers: the nonemergency line at 662-393-0228, the main SPD number at 662-393-8652, or the Desoto County Sheriff’s Department at 662-469-8500.
9-1-1 systems provide critical, time-sensitive links between the public and emergency responders. When incoming call service is impaired, it can delay response to crimes, medical emergencies and fires, so officials typically urge residents to use alternate contact methods until service is restored.
Details about the cause and timeline for repair were not provided. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
