Officials warn Scott County residents of incoming severe weather

Scott County officials warned residents that a line of severe weather is expected to move into the area shortly, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and potentially dangerous conditions.

Sheriff Mike Lee, Chief Deputy Brad Ellis and Public Information Officer Joshua Thames said in a Facebook post that they are closely monitoring the system and urged residents to stay alert, have a way to receive weather updates and be prepared to take shelter if warnings are issued.

The officials asked people to avoid unnecessary travel and to check on family members, neighbors and those who may need assistance. They said first responders are ready and standing by.

Severe storms can produce hazards such as flash flooding, downed trees and power outages. Residents should follow local emergency instructions and use NOAA Weather Radio, official county channels or trusted local media to receive timely updates and instructions.
