UMMC School of Nursing building rises, opens in 2027

The new University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing building is rising on the UMMC campus in Jackson and is scheduled to open for classes in 2027, the medical center says.

UMMC says the facility is designed to support growing enrollment and modern nursing education. Planned features include advanced simulation labs and collaborative learning areas intended to give students hands-on clinical experience and opportunities for team-based training.

The School of Nursing is a central part of UMMC’s health education programs and plays a key role in supplying trained nurses to hospitals, clinics and community health settings across Mississippi. The new building reflects broader moves in nursing education to expand capacity and incorporate technology-driven simulation to better prepare students for clinical practice.

University officials have provided basic details about the project on the school’s website. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
