Dr. Bettinica Gatewood Cobbs, a practical nursing instructor at Mississippi Delta Community College, has earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing.
Cobbs completed the two-year doctoral program with a focus on nursing education and leadership. She plans to use her advanced education to strengthen the learning experience for MDCC nursing students and help prepare the next generation of health care professionals.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
