UMMC School honors occupational therapy students at White Coat Ceremony

UMMC School of Health Related Professions celebrated a White Coat Ceremony for its Occupational Therapy program as the institution begins a new academic year, the school said in a Facebook post.

White Coat Ceremonies are a longstanding tradition in health professions education that mark students’ commitment to patient care, professionalism and the responsibilities of clinical training. Schools use the events to recognize students as they begin formal, focused preparation for clinical roles.

The School of Health Related Professions is part of UMMC and trains allied health professionals, including occupational therapists who help patients regain independence in daily activities after injury or illness. The occupational therapy program prepares students for clinical practice through coursework, lab work and supervised field experiences.

The school said it was excited to recognize students’ achievements and the work ahead as another year of learning and growth begins. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
