Pike County Sheriff’s Office thanks agencies for Osyka school safety drill

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office thanked law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency responders and supporting agencies that participated in an Active Shooter/Intruder Training Drill last week at Osyka Elementary School.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said the exercise focused on preparation and on ensuring that first responders can respond quickly, effectively and together during an emergency involving children, teachers, school employees and the community.

The sheriff’s office said participating agencies trained and communicated together to strengthen their ability to respond as one team. The office also thanked officers, deputies, firefighters, emergency responders, dispatchers, school officials and support personnel who helped conduct the exercise.

The office thanked the Town of Osyka, Osyka Elementary School, school personnel, students, parents and the broader community for their cooperation and understanding during the training.
