Northeast is celebrating Adult Education & Family Literacy Week and the students who prove it’s never too late to pursue a goal, build new skills and create new opportunities.
The college says adult education is more than earning a high school equivalency. It also is a pathway to college, a career and a brighter future.

This year’s theme, “Let’s Go, Mississippi!”, highlights what’s possible when people invest in others and help them keep moving forward. Northeast also said students taking the next step should know their hard work matters and their future is worth it.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
