Nearly 1,000 graduate at UMMC 70th commencement
Nearly 1,000 graduates crossed the stage Monday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s 70th commencement, the medical center said in a Facebook post. UMMC described each graduate as carrying “a story of perseverance, purpose and a commitment to care for others.”
The University of Mississippi Medical Center, based in Jackson, is the state’s academic medical center and trains physicians, nurses and other health professionals who serve communities across Mississippi and beyond. Commencement ceremonies mark the culmination of years of clinical education and training.
UMMC posted a link to a news story about the ceremony on its website, noting the graduates’ journeys reflect “the heart of health care in Mississippi and beyond.” The event underscores the role academic health centers play in preparing a healthcare workforce for hospitals, clinics and public health settings.
Details about individual degree programs, speakers and honorary recognitions were not provided in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
