Millsaps offers at least half tuition to eligible Jackson Public Schools students

JACKSON — Millsaps College will provide renewable undergraduate scholarships that cover at least 50% of tuition for eligible Jackson Public Schools students under a memorandum of understanding announced Tuesday, college officials said.

The scholarships are available to applicants who meet Millsaps’ standard admissions requirements and may be renewed for up to four years, Millsaps officials said. Dependents of full-time JPS faculty and staff also qualify for the undergraduate tuition scholarship.

In addition to the undergraduate awards, full-time JPS employees, parents of current students and JPS alumni may receive a 10% tuition discount on select graduate programs through the Else School of Management, officials said. The agreement will remain in effect for five years and includes outreach such as campus visits and recruitment programs aimed at helping students explore college and career opportunities earlier.

“Mississippi’s future depends on our ability to educate, retain and empower homegrown talent,” Millsaps President Frank Neville said in a statement. JPS Superintendent Errick L. Greene said the partnership expands opportunities for students preparing for careers and higher education. Millsaps is a private college located in Jackson that offers undergraduate and graduate programs. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
