This morning Chief Brackney met with JPS Superintendent Dr. Errick L. Green and senior district and police officials to identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration and better serve students, a Facebook post said.
Attendees included JPS Chief of Staff Dr. William Merritt, JPS Chief of Police Corliss Harris and Assistant Chief Otis Clark, the post said. The meeting focused on addressing student needs and coordinating efforts to support safe, supportive learning environments.
Partnerships between school systems and police departments typically cover safety planning, emergency response coordination and efforts to connect students with services such as counseling and social supports. Officials said such collaboration aims to reduce disruptions, improve student well-being and foster productive relationships between families, schools and law enforcement.
JPD and JPS remain committed to working together to create safe, supportive and successful learning environments for every student, the post said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
