Two injured in shooting on North 9th Street in Greenville
Two people were injured in a shooting on the 200 block of North 9th Street in Greenville, according to the Greenville Police Department. Officers responded at approximately 8:51 p.m. after receiving an alert about shots fired in the area.
Police said investigators found evidence of an exchange of gunfire involving multiple firearms. A white sedan occupied by several unidentified people reportedly traveled through the area, where gunfire was exchanged with people near a residence.
The two injured people were taken by private vehicle to Delta Health System – The Medical Center for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.
Officers recovered multiple firearms, spent shell casings and other evidence. Two vehicles and a nearby residence were also struck by gunfire. Suspected controlled substances recovered at the scene were turned over to the department’s Special Operations Division.
The department’s Criminal Investigations Division is handling the investigation. Detectives are working to identify everyone involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
