Two stolen vehicles recovered in Greenville; one suspect arrested

The Greenville Police Department recovered two vehicles reported stolen from a residence on Robertshaw Street and arrested Markeal Johnson in connection with the investigation, according to the department.

The vehicles, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and a 2012 Nissan Altima, were reported missing after the victim discovered that keys to both had been taken. The victim also reported that the vehicles contained personal property, including about $2,000 in cash, identification, a wallet and additional vehicle keys.

Later that day, a FLOCK license plate reader alert indicated that the Nissan Altima had been detected near Alexander and Colorado streets. Officers responded and developed information identifying Johnson as a suspect. He was taken into custody in connection with the Nissan.

During the investigation, officers located the Impala near the College and Hyman Street area and determined it had been taken to Leland. Greenville police contacted the Leland Police Department, whose officers found the vehicle in the 100 block of Stalling Street in Leland.

Both vehicles were recovered. The department said the investigation remains active and asked anyone with information to contact the Greenville Police Department at (662) 378-1515 or Washington County Crime Stoppers. All persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
