Two charged after reported burglary at Greenville residence

Greenville police arrested Joshua Bruins and Tabitha Knight after responding to a reported burglary at a residence in the 1100 block of Burns Street. The residence was undergoing renovations, and officers were told unauthorized people might be inside.

At approximately 8:51 a.m. Wednesday, officers located Bruins inside the residence and took him into custody without incident. During a subsequent check, officers found Knight hiding in a bedroom closet and also took her into custody. Investigators recovered suspected controlled substances associated with Knight, who initially provided a different identity before being positively identified.

Bruins was charged with house burglary and trespassing. Knight was charged with house burglary, trespassing, providing false information and possession of controlled substances.

The Greenville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and Special Operations Division are continuing the investigation. Both individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
