Greenville traffic stop leads to arrest, recovery of firearms and suspected narcotics
Greenville police arrested Travarius Blackmon Williams after a traffic stop near Colorado Street and Reed Road led to the recovery of multiple firearms and suspected narcotics, according to the Greenville Police Department.
Officers were patrolling near Reed Road and Colorado Street on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, when they received information about a gray Nissan reportedly occupied by people with firearms near the B-Quick store. They located a 2025 Nissan Sentra matching the description and stopped it near the intersection.
As officers approached, a male passenger got out and fled on foot. Officers tried to apprehend him but were unsuccessful. During the investigation, officers found multiple firearms, suspected marijuana and THC-related products inside the vehicle.
A recovered 9mm handgun was later determined to have been reported stolen during a FedEx shipment. Officers also found a one-year-old child inside the vehicle and immediately moved the child to a safe location away from the enforcement activity.
Williams was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and child endangerment, along with traffic-related citations. The department continues investigating, including efforts to identify and locate the person who fled.
