The Mayor’s Blues Reception 2026 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Downtown Greenville Waterfront in Greenville, Mississippi, according to the City of Greenville, Mississippi – Government.
Derek “The Change Man” Smith is scheduled to perform live at the reception, which is being hosted by Mayor Errick D. Simmons.
The event will kick off the celebration of the 49th Annual Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival. The reception is described as a celebration of the legacy, music, heritage and people of the Mississippi Delta.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
