Heat stress expected in parts of Mississippi, expanding statewide

Limited heat stress is expected in western and northern areas of Mississippi, generally along and north of the Natchez Trace corridor through Friday, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi.

The risk is expected to expand statewide this weekend and continue into early next week. Peak heat indices will be around 105 degrees.

People outdoors in the heat should take breaks and stay hydrated.
