Heat stress expected to worsen late weekend into early next week
Dangerous heat stress will be focused north of the Interstate 20 corridor today and extend across the area into Saturday, according to the U.S. National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi.
Peak heat indices are expected to reach about 105 degrees Fahrenheit through Saturday, then rise to between 105 and 110 degrees late this weekend into early next week. Elevated heat stress conditions are expected to return during that period.
People who spend an extended period outdoors should take breaks and stay hydrated.
