Vicksburg police arrest man after shots fired at vehicle

Vicksburg police are investigating after shots were fired early Friday and an adult man was arrested and charged, the Vicksburg Police Department said. Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. May 29 to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Roseland Drive.

During a preliminary investigation, officers learned several juveniles went to a residence and contacted an adult male while asking about another juvenile, the department said. Police say the man allegedly fired a weapon toward a vehicle occupied by the juveniles as the vehicle fled the scene.

The vehicle later became disabled as a result of the gunfire and was located near Cain Ridge Road and Highway 61 South, the department said. No injuries were reported. The adult man was taken into custody and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vicksburg Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
