Mississippi State volleyball sets three-match Lafayette schedule
Mississippi State volleyball will play three matches at the Ragin' Cajuns Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana, beginning Thursday against Louisiana at Earl K. Long Gym.
The Bulldogs, 7-1, will face Louisiana at 6 p.m. CT Thursday, Jackson State at 2:30 p.m. CT Friday and UT Arlington at 11 a.m. CT Saturday. Thursday’s match will be available on ESPN+.
Mississippi State enters the event with a five-match winning streak. Lindsey Mangelson has 498 career kills and needs two more to reach 500. The Bulldogs rank first in the SEC in digs per set at 15.00, while McKenna Yates ranks fifth at 4.39.
Louisiana is 4-6 and won its last match against Southeastern Louisiana. Lolo Lambert leads the Ragin' Cajuns with 117 kills. Mississippi State will meet Louisiana for the 21st time and is seeking a sixth consecutive win in the series.
Jackson State is 4-6 and went 1-2 at the Southern Miss invitational last weekend. Mississippi State will play the Tigers for the 26th time and has won the teams’ past 18 meetings.
UT Arlington is 4-5 and has lost four of its last five matches. Lucy Tricco leads the Mavericks with 206 assists and a .422 hitting percentage. The teams will meet for the first time since 2013, with Mississippi State seeking its third straight win against UT Arlington.
