Jackson State volleyball falls to Louisiana in four sets

Jackson State volleyball fell 3-1 to Louisiana in a four-set match at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, Louisiana. The set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-25. Jackson State finished with 45 kills and seven total blocks.

The Tigers evened the match by winning the second set 25-23 after Louisiana took the opener. Louisiana then won the third set 25-21 and closed the match with a 25-15 fourth-set victory.

Hope Briggs led Jackson State with 13 kills on 26 attempts and a .462 hitting percentage. Shelby Zanders added 10 kills without an attack error and posted a team-best .526 hitting percentage, along with four total blocks.

Parker Featherstone contributed six kills, while Sophia McKenzie had eight kills and seven digs. Ryleigh Davis paced the Tigers with 22 assists, and Naija Gadis recorded 15 assists.

Giannelle Asomani led Jackson State with 18 digs, and Maya Reeves added six digs.

Jackson State will open Southwestern Athletic Conference play at home Friday against Prairie View A&M. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
