Millsaps football shuts out Centenary 57-0

Millsaps defeated Centenary College 57-0 at Atkins Field on Saturday night, outgaining the Gents 443-125. The Majors scored on offense, defense and special teams while forcing four turnovers and recording 14 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Quarterback Grant Bizjack completed 14 of 19 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, adding 57 rushing yards. Quez Goss completed 4 of 5 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, and also scored on a run while gaining 10 rushing yards.

Millsaps running backs combined for 217 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Tameron Patterson led with 59 yards and a score, while Mitch Taylor and DeAndree Franklin each rushed for 31 yards and scored. Aaden Johnson caught a 59-yard touchdown pass, and Kaven Taylor added a 24-yard receiving touchdown.

Zabian Boutan returned a fumble after a strip-sack for a touchdown, and Justin Smith returned an interception for another defensive score. Davis Dare contributed 77 yards on five punt returns, 26 yards on a kickoff return and 29 yards on four receptions. Connor Babin made all seven extra-point attempts and recorded nine kickoffs for 555 yards.

Millsaps will host Hendrix College at Harper Davis Field on Saturday, Sept. 19, in the Hall of Fame Game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
