Alcorn volleyball begins four-match road stretch at Louisiana Tech
Alcorn volleyball will open a four-match, 452-mile road stretch against Louisiana Tech at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston, Louisiana. The match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.
The Braves are seeking to rebound after losing home matches last week to Dillard University and Nicholls State University. Alcorn is 0-5 this season and 0-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
Courtney Carter leads Alcorn with 54 kills, averaging 2.84 per set, along with 37 points and eight service aces. Jaylynn McNeill has 46 kills, a .294 hitting percentage and 14 aces, while Rylan Jones has 44 kills, 28 points and a .121 hitting percentage.
Cristin Webb has recorded 18 kills, a .222 hitting percentage and eight aces. Daylin Saiki has 11 kills, 130 assists and six aces.
For Louisiana Tech, Taylor Woods has 54 kills, a .232 hitting percentage and 12 blocks. Tyra McKinnie has 41 kills, a .276 hitting percentage and 16 blocks, while Gabrielle Hairston has 41 kills, a .260 hitting percentage and 10 blocks.
Kylie Rodriguez has 39 kills, 14 digs and nine blocks for the Bulldogs. Emerson Traylor has 86 assists, 32 digs and six service aces.
Alcorn previously lost to Louisiana Tech in three sets in Ruston. Gabrielle Harris is in her second year as the Braves’ interim head coach.
Alcorn will next travel to Memphis, Tennessee, for the Carrie Yerty Classic, hosted by the University of Memphis, beginning Thursday, Sept. 10, at 10 a.m.
