Carey suffers first loss of season, falls 2-0 to Faulkner

The Crusaders suffered their first loss of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Faulkner University.

Faulkner controlled much of the opening half. Bernardo Juca scored in the eighth minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, and Faulkner added a second goal in the 31st minute to take a two-goal advantage into halftime.

Carey increased its attacking pressure after the break and tightened up defensively. Faulkner managed two shots on goal in the second half, while Carey recorded six shots on frame after producing two in the opening 45 minutes. The Crusaders could not score against the Eagles' defense.

Carey is scheduled to return to action Friday, Sept. 25, against Life University in Marietta, Ga. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
