Toppers claim 4-3 SSAC win over ABAC in Montgomery

Blue Mountain Christian (BMCU) women’s tennis team defeated Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 4-3 Tuesday in a Southern States Athletic Conference match in Montgomery, Alabama, the school said.

The Toppers secured the doubles point to set the tone. At No. 1 doubles, Lucia Rodriguez Garcia and Lina Cetina won 6-0, and Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos followed with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match between Kiersten Terris and Nami Malyaporn was unfinished.

In singles, Eugenia Ramos won at No. 3, 6-3, 6-0, and Nami Malyaporn earned a point at No. 4 with a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Kiersten Terris was awarded the No. 6 singles win by default, the deciding point in the 4-3 outcome. ABAC collected singles wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 5.

The Southern States Athletic Conference includes small colleges in the southeastern United States, and conference matches help determine postseason qualification. BMCU travels to Mississippi University for Women on Wednesday, April 8, at 12:00 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
