Reeves thanks Mississippi National Guard deploying to Washington for America250

Gov. Tate Reeves on Facebook thanked members of the Mississippi National Guard as they deploy to the nation’s capital to support America250, the nationwide commemoration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Reeves wrote, “Join me in thanking the men and women of the Mississippi National Guard as they deploy to our nation’s capital in support of America250. They’ll help keep Washington safe as we celebrate the greatest country in the history of the world. Thank you for your service!”

The Mississippi National Guard routinely provides personnel and resources to assist federal and local authorities during large public events and commemorations. National Guard deployments can include crowd management, traffic control, communications support and other security-related tasks.

America250 is a national initiative organizing events and observances around the country to mark the United States’ semiquincentennial. Reeves’ post highlights the role state guards play in supporting large-scale, multiagency operations in the capital during significant national events.
