Reeves announces $23 million for Mississippi infrastructure

Gov. Tate Reeves today announced that Mississippi is deploying over $23 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Facilities funding to cities and counties to address infrastructure needs and modernize local economies.

The CDBG program is a federal program administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that provides states and localities with flexible funding for community development. Public facilities funding commonly helps finance projects such as water and sewer improvements, streets and drainage, and community centers.

State officials said the funds will go to municipalities and counties across Mississippi to tackle critical infrastructure shortfalls and support economic activity at the local level. The announcement highlights the role of state-administered CDBG allocations in pairing federal dollars with local planning and priorities.

Details on the specific projects and local recipients were not included in the announcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
