MEMA seeks staff to support disaster response

MEMA is hiring and inviting applicants to join its team to serve state residents before, during and after disasters, the agency said in a Facebook post. The social media message directed interested candidates to a careers page on MEMA’s website.

MEMA is the state emergency management agency responsible for coordinating preparedness, response and recovery efforts during emergencies. Agencies like MEMA typically employ planners, communications specialists, logistics coordinators and other roles that help communities prepare for and recover from floods, storms and other hazards.

The agency’s announcement underscores the ongoing need for trained personnel in emergency management and public safety. Staff hired by state emergency management agencies often support disaster operations, public information, grant management and interagency coordination, functions that become critical when incidents occur.

Job openings and application instructions are posted at msema.org/about/careers, the agency said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
