MEMA posts citizen self-reporting links by county
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency posted citizen self-reporting links by county on its Facebook page, urging residents to use the form to report damage following storms. MEMA said the self-report tool is not a 9-1-1 service and that anyone with an immediate, life-threatening need should call 9-1-1.
MEMA said submitting a damage report is not an application for financial assistance and described the form as a data-collection tool the agency uses to gather information after storms. The agency did not say the form would automatically trigger aid or eligibility for assistance.
MEMA is the state agency responsible for coordinating disaster preparedness, response and recovery in Mississippi. State emergency management agencies commonly use resident reports to help identify heavily impacted areas, prioritize response efforts and plan recovery operations, though formal assistance typically requires separate applications through state or federal programs.
Officials encouraged residents to follow official guidance for applying for disaster assistance and to use 9-1-1 for urgent life-threatening situations. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
