Law enforcement honors courage, compassion during National Police Week
A Facebook post marking National Police Week said, “Law enforcement is built on courage, compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to others.” The post added, “We are grateful for the officers who serve with honor each day and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
National Police Week is observed annually to honor law enforcement officers and remember those who have died in the line of duty. Police departments, advocacy groups and communities across the country commonly hold ceremonies, memorials and public outreach events to recognize service and sacrifice.
The post’s message underscores the public role officers play in maintaining safety and the risks inherent in that work. Observances such as National Police Week aim to acknowledge both the contributions of serving officers and the impact on families and communities.
The Facebook post included the hashtag #NationalPoliceWeek to mark the observance. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
