Applications are open for residents affected by Tropical Storm Arthur under federal disaster declaration DR-4930, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post.
Residents in Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River and Stone counties may be eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance, MSEMA said. Those seeking help can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by phone at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or through the free FEMA mobile app.
MSEMA outlined basic eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship or qualified immigration status; identity verification such as a Social Security number or accepted documents; proof of home ownership or occupancy; and demonstration of unmet needs not covered by insurance.
FEMA’s Individual Assistance program typically helps with temporary housing, home repairs and other disaster-related basic needs when other resources are insufficient. Residents whose homes or property were affected are encouraged to apply promptly to determine eligibility.
