Tupelo invites groups to adopt free holiday trees at Ballard Park
Tupelo is inviting organizations, families, churches and businesses to adopt and decorate trees for the Annual Festival of Christmas Trees at Ballard Park. Adoption is free, and trees are limited.
Participants can reserve a tree by visiting the Tupelo Parks & Recreation Department office at Ballard Park, 655 Rutherford Road, Tupelo. More information is available at 662-841-6440.

Greenville youth council holds first meeting of 2026
Greenville’s Mayor’s Youth Council held its first meeting of 2026 in Greenville. The city said the council is the inaugural winner of the Mississippi Municipal League Youth Award and the state’s largest Mayor’s Youth Council.
The council’s stated work includes leadership development, civic engagement and community service. Mayor Errick D. Simmons said the program gives young people a seat at the table while preparing the next generation to lead.

Olive Branch zoning board sets October 8 public meeting
The Olive Branch Board of Zoning Adjustment will meet at 6:00pm Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the City Municipal Court Building, 6900 Highland Street. The meeting is open to the public.
The October 8 agenda is posted in the city’s Agenda Center, while planning staff reports are available through the Planning Department website. The agenda may change before the meeting.

Free Family Fun Day planned at Tupelo’s The Depot
Family Fun Day at The Depot in Tupelo is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM. The event is part of Fall Into Tupelo 2026, and all activities are free.
The event will include a DJ, family-friendly activities and fall-themed fun. Tombigbee Fiber is presenting Family Fun Day.

Volunteers plant trees at Leaf River wildlife area
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks joined the National Deer Association and the U.S. Forest Service for a volunteer workday at Leaf River Wildlife Management Area in recognition of National Public Lands Day.
Volunteers spent the morning planting trees and caring for public lands that provide wildlife habitat and outdoor opportunities for Mississippians.
