The Mayor’s Blues Reception 2026 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at the Downtown Greenville Waterfront in Greenville, Mississippi, according to the City of Greenville, Mississippi – Government.
The event will feature J’Cenae live in concert and is set to launch the 49th Annual Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival celebration. Mayor Errick D. Simmons and blues lovers from around the world are identified as participants in the kickoff.
The reception’s stated theme is “Celebrating the Legacy. Honoring the Blues.” Organizers invited attendees to celebrate the legacy, music, heritage and people of the Mississippi Delta.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
