Vicksburg police investigate robbery, assault on Halls Ferry Road

VICKSBURG, Mississippi — Vicksburg police are investigating a robbery and assault that occurred June 11 around 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Halls Ferry Road, the Vicksburg Police Department said in a June 12 news release posted to Facebook.

Police said preliminary findings indicate the victim arranged to meet with individuals for an illegal narcotics transaction. During the encounter, the victim removed his wallet to pay and it was taken by one of the individuals, police said. The victim was then assaulted by multiple subjects before they fled the scene.

The victim sustained minor injuries, including abrasions to both wrists, the top of the head and the ear, the department said. Investigators said the incident does not appear to have been a random act of violence and that the investigation remains active.
