Police investigate attempted armed robbery at Mission Mart
Vicksburg police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at Mission Mart late Friday, the Vicksburg Police Department said. Officers responded about 11 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, to the convenience store at 1020 Mission 66 after a report of a robbery attempt.
According to the department, two male suspects with their faces covered approached the business. One suspect remained outside while the other entered, approached the counter and demanded money while claiming to have a firearm in his pocket.
The store clerk told officers there was no money in the register. The suspect walked toward the entrance, returned to the counter and demanded money a second time. After being told again there was no money, the suspect left the business. The clerk reported seeing what appeared to be a silver-colored firearm in the suspect’s pocket, but the weapon was never removed or displayed.
No injuries were reported and no money or property was taken. Both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction, and the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
